Year 10 English

ENGLISH:

At Mickleham Secondary College, Year 10 English is structured to ensure students are placed in a course that best suits their current level of achievement, learning needs, and future goals. Teachers use a range of data and assessments to guide this placement, with all streams designed to develop essential skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Some classes focus on preparing students for more analytical and literature-based study, exploring how texts are influenced by perspective, context, and culture, while others emphasise building confidence in clear communication and purposeful writing for a variety of audiences and situations. Students may engage with a wide range of texts, including novels, films, poetry, and real-world materials such as workplace documents and digital media.

All courses are aimed at helping students become effective communicators and critical thinkers, preparing them for success in their senior studies, future careers, and everyday life.
