Our Academies help students pursue their passion while developing the skills, knowledge and character to succeed on and off the field.
Rugby Academy
The Rugby Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop their rugby skills and understanding of the game through specialist coaching, strength and conditioning, leadership development and high-performance learning experiences. Delivered in partnership with Academy Movement and Rugby Australia, students can access nationally recognised coaching and refereeing accreditations, Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways, and coaching from experienced high-performance coaches and former professional players. The program supports students to grow as athletes, learners and leaders while exploring future pathways in sport, coaching and the wider sporting industry.
Rugby Coordinator
Taiso Silifai Leanna is the Rugby Academy Coordinator at Mickleham Secondary College. A former professional rugby player with eight seasons competing in French professional competitions, Taiso brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the Academy. He is passionate about helping students develop their skills, confidence, leadership and understanding of high-performance sport.
Cricket Academy
The Cricket Academy combines specialist coaching, leadership development and high-performance learning to help students develop their cricket skills and understanding of the game. Through partnerships with Academy Movement, Cricket Victoria and Melbourne-based Big Bash cricket organisations, students access authentic pathways and experiences that support success in sport, education and life.
Cricket Coordinator
Husain Badat is a teacher and Cricket Academy Coordinator at Mickleham Secondary College. Having worked internationally and holding advanced cricket coaching accreditations, Husain brings a wealth of experience to the Academy. He is passionate about developing young people through sport and helping students build their skills, confidence and leadership both on and off the field.
